The Vive Focus is a standalone VR headset from HTC and sports some cool features, among which the popular Kiosk Mode. This tutorial describes how you can easily sideload VR apps onto the HTV Vive Focus using a free, drag & drop tool called VRsideloader.

1. Enable developer mode

First you will need to enable developer mode on your device. Here is how:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click on More Settings
  3. Scroll down and click About device
  4. Scroll down and click Build Number 7 times to enable Developer Mode

2. Download the FREE VRsideloader

Many tutorials on sideloading will tell you to install something called adb, to open your command line, and then run a series of confusing commands. This works well for developers, but is not very user-friendly. That’s why we developed a helpful tool to make the sideloading process super simple.

When you open the tool for the first time, it will automatically install all the required software, and after that you’ll be able to install an APK with a simple drag & drop! You can also uninstall apps with a single click.

VRsideloader

To get the VRsideloader, please fill in your email address and we will send you a download link for both MacOS and Windows straight away:

3. Sideload your app

Now that developer mode is enabled and you have the VRsideloader opened up, it is time to connect your Vive Focus to your computer using a USB cable.

Then simply drag & drop your app’s APK file into the VRsideloader window, and your app will be installed! Easy as that.

You can now open the app on your device from Library > Unknown Sources.
