Next to your video and artwork, it is possible to add different audio or subtitle tracks to your video. To update the spatial audio or subtitles independently from the video file, we treat them as a separate file linked to a project. This workflow will ensure that you can always update your videos with newer audio versions or subtitles at a later point as apposed to packaging them in a video container each time you want to correct or update them.

Add Spatial Audio to your 360 Videos

Headjack supports the most commonly used industry-wide standard of TBE Audio as its spatial audio formats when treated a separate audio file. It is also possible to use the AmbiX standard when you want to package your audio packaged inside a .mp4 container.

Add a .TBE audio file to your 360 video

Start by exporting a .tbe 48 kHz (second-order 8 channel + 2 headlock stereo) audio file from the Facebook Spatial Audio Workstation plugin in your DAW, encoder, or editing program to create a separate .tbe audio file for upload to the Headjack CMS.

Facebook Spatial Audio Workstation plugin TBE

Method 1: Add Spatial Audio on the App Page

  • Navigate to Apps > All Apps > “app name”
  • Click on the project you would like to add the spatial audio track to
  • Click “select TBE audio” and Upload or Find the spatial audio track in the File Explorer
  • Click “Save”
  • Restart your app and check the result

Method 2: Add Spatial Audio to a Project

  • Navigate to Content > Projects > “project name” or add a new one
  • Click “select TBE audio” and Upload or select the spatial audio track in the File Explorer
  • Click “Save”
  • Restart your app and check the result

Add an AmbiX audio file to your 360 video

Start by exporting a .mp4 + ambiX (first-order 4 channel) video file from the Facebook Spatial Audio Workstation plugin in your DAW, encoder, or editing program to create a video file for upload to the Headjack CMS. This is done by using the “YouTube Video (with first-order ambiX)” export option.

Then upload the video as you usually would by creating a new project or by updating an existing project. Make sure to use the “use original” transcoding profile when uploading to the CMS.

Adding Subtitles to your (360) Video

Six subtitles can be added (to the Headjack Essential templates) to each project in the most commonly used Unicode .srt format. When a valid subtitle is detected in the app, there will appear a “CC” icon in your app’s video control interface for selecting a subtitle. The order in which the subtitles are arranged in the Headjack CMS will also be the order they appear in the app.

  • Navigate to Apps > All Apps > “app name”
  • Click on the project you would like to add the subtitles to
  • Click “Extra Settings” on the bottom of the project window
  • Upload or Select a .srt subtitle file in the file explorer
  • Restart your app and check the result
